question for any IVF girls
My friend is having a hard time getting ivf covered. First insurance co. said they would cover 90% now they are saying only $5000. Any advice on investigating ways to get help on paying for the procedure? Tia any help would be great

Re: question for any IVF girls
My IVF only cost $6,000 and they let me pay in 3 installments.
The biggest problem is getting the meds - they can come to 8K. There are a few websites where you can get them cheaper.
IVF outside the US is another option which I considered.
My insurance didn't cover anything.

I read an article on this a while ago. Apparently even with the airfare and hotel stay it was still cheaper for many women to fly overseas for the procedure. US healthcare s*cks.

Re: question for any IVF girls
I am not at the point of considering IVF just yet, but I do know that my insurance company does not cover it at all. They make it very clear in that huge book they gave us when we switched from Oxford to Empire Blue Cross. I pray that we won't need it. IT does cover the AI procedures I have had as well as IUI.

Re: question for any IVF girls
NY does not require insurance companies to cover IVF - so they don't. Most clinics though will help with the NYS grant application for $$$ to cover the procedure.
