Question for Cat owners

Simba is sneaky..So, he thinks..LOL..

It grosses me out..He loves to lay on the stoveChat Icon
I know he does this overnight because when I go downstairs in the AM I see the evidence..Cat hair.
He's been caught once.
He goes up on the counter and onto the stove..

How do I keep him off?
It's disgusting!

What if he hit a dial on the stove by accident?
Im freaking out?

Any advice would be great.

TIA.

Re: Question for Cat owners

when we first got Pesto our cat, he used to climb on the counters...which I think is GROSS!! I got a spray bottle and everytime he went to jump on them, I sprayed him. It didnt hurt him but he didnt like it. He learned and now he knows where he can go.

Since you dont seem to be catching your cat doing it, maybe you can leave some dry sheets (they dont like the smell) or some sticky tape on the areas he goes. That might deter him from going there

Re: Question for Cat owners

I've heard that tin foil works. They don't like the noise. Tape some to your stove and see if that keeps him off.

I second this- put tin foil on there when you go to bed at night... should stop him from wanting to go up there.

Re: Question for Cat owners

is there a window above your stove ?
my cat will jump on the stove to look out the window..

I always close the window and blind when I go to bed/ out. she has no interest in it then.

aluminum foil sounds like a good idea.

Re: Question for Cat owners

TY all for your responses.
Nope, no window above the stove.
It's annoying.
I LOVE Simba to pieces..
Maybe tonight I'll give the tin foil a try!

We never catch him in the act (just once)..He must hear us get up in the AM and jump off, come upstairs and act innocent...

I know he's on there...He leaves the evidence behind..LOL.

I use a spray bottle during the day, if and when I see him even Thinking about jumping up on the counter.
He is NOT a fan of water.
He's like a kid up to no good when mommy & daddy aren't home.

TY again for your suggestions. They are appreciated.Chat Icon
