Question for Islander fans

We were thinking of getting tix for this Saturday against the Senators. Can anyone tell me if a game against Ottawa at the coliseum is anything like a game against the Montreal Canadians? Isles fans are outnumbered like 3-1 by canada fans...is it like that for all games against any canadian team?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Question for Islander fans

Usually not. In the past seasons there may be a few very small groups of Ottawa fans here or there but nothing like the Montreal invasion earlier this month. Les Habitants fans seem more dedicated. Plus Ottawa is 3-4 hours farther away than Montreal (Montreal is about 6 hours) so that is also a big factor.

If it is any consolation, a fan from Canada is the best opposing fan you'd want to be around. Sure, they cheer on their team, but they are not disrespectful to the opposing team, fans or the game. A couple of years ago a small group of us drove to Montreal to see a game, and everyone around us was very nice talking to us about their team, the area, and the game. They even handed us glasses of Molsen Ice out of their luxury boxes. Chat Icon

If I were you, I wouldnt let it keep you away from the game on Sat.

Re: Question for Islander fans

Thanks! Yeah, I agree the Habs fans were EXTREMELY nice and friendly. No problem with them at all personally. We had conversations during the game with them and my wife was even taking pics of them.

It just didn't "feel" right because the Habs would score and the place erupted. No matter how nice they were...it was still a bummer in our house. LOL

Thanks for the advice. We'll probably go.

Yeah, I understand. I guess at this point I'm just numb to the whole thing so it doesn't bother me too much. Chat Icon
