Question for moms re: easter dresses
is it a dress your DD will ever wear again?
I've seen a few cute ones but can't imagine a reason for DD to wear it again. i HATE the idea of buying something that she can only wear once.
On the other hand, i bought a (summer) dress thats hot pink and white and a shrug that's green with little white dots. Together they look so cute and can be used for easter, so i'm leaning towards that.
Just wondering what others are doing.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
Nope - most likely a one time thing. I find this to be the case for most special occasions. Her dress this year was only $12.99 so I can deal with it. I try to keep all the special occasion dresses on the cheap side bc of this. She definitely COULD wear the dress more, but of course I like to buy different ones.
I try to buy stuff at the end of the season for the next year or look for good deals. in 2008 I bought her Xmas dress for 2009 at Gymboree for $5! It was a silk dupoini (?) dress too! Might have been my best purchase yet!

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
nope its a one time use, unless i hand it down to someone...
last year DS wore a suit, matching socks and all, and he wore it once, then i gave it to a friend who wanted it.
DD will wear it once and then either sell it or give it to someone

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
I know it is a one time use thing going in and I just accept it. I try not to break the bank, but since we do visit relatives for holidays I like to put my girls in their "Sunday Best".

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
In the past I have always gotten at least 2 uses out of it for my DD. Last year she wore it for Easter and then my nieces communion party.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
I bought a sleeveless dress with a shrug over it...its a pattern that I know they can wear again in the summer when we have a bbq or something to go to...I am too cheap to ever let them wear something just once!
ETA: we bring the girls to church each week so they wear their dresses a lot most of the time

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
Honestly no. It is a white silk dress with flowers on the bottom...not for everyday use.
However, I plan to get photos taken so I guess that counts as 2 wears
Eh, how long will I get to dress her up? I might as well enjoy it

This is how I feel but If you are lucky enough to find something you love that can be worn again, then I would go for it.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
I bought a dress last summer for easter this year at Janie and Jack. Now I don't love it as much as some other dresses, BUT it can be worn for other occasions too...so maybe I'll just use it anyways.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
The first two years, she had a special dress that was only worn once. This year, she's wearing a dress that will be worn all spring long. She has a ton of dresses , I can't buy her any more!!

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
DC's Easter outfits always doubles as the outfits I use for their birthday picture shoot as it's around the same time.
I really tend to think of it more as an outfit for their pics If it was just for Easter I would be getting whatever was on the sale rack as she would be wearing it just once.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
Ella will probably get another wear out of her Easter dress. Well, the money I paid for it she will have to wear to it again.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
I only bought that big poofy type of dress for her first easter. Now I justify buying a cute dennys summer dress by knowing that she wore it for easter too!

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
Yes, definitely. In years passed we've worn the dress at least 2 or 3 more times. I think that's why I don't feel bad about buying one I love b/c if I'm in love with it then I make sure she get more use out of it. This year I'm not sure b/c we've got DS christening and Easter to start off with but I've found more than one dress so at first I thought she'd wear the same one to both now I'm not sure.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
I'm not getting her a dress becasue of this. I'm not big on putting her in dresses anyway.
I think she's only worn four dresses ever - one for her Santa pic, one on Christmas, one for Valentine's day - which someone gave me - and one to my grandmother's funeral. I hate the hassle of tights, if the dress has a onesie AND a panty, etc ...
But I'm pretty much happy to have her in a onesie (not an undershirt type), leggings and socks. I guess she's super casual, just like mommy!

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
Yes my DD has worn her Easter Dress more than once I always have her wear it again for Mother's Day b.c we usually go out to my parents club for their brunch so I figure the girls will get at least 2 wearings out of the dress.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
The past couple of years, Sabrina hasn't worn her Easter dress again. This year we have a formal event to attend around the same time, so I am thinking of having her wear it for that, too.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
Last year when I bought her Easter dress I knew we had my nephew's christening to attend so I was happy to spend the money and have at least 2 occasions to wear it.
This year no... and I bought her 2 dresses! But in my defense I spent less on the 2 this year than I did on the one from last year and they're not so fancy that I need an "occasion" for her to wear them again.

Re: Question for moms re: easter dresses
yes, i'm not into the very formal type dresses and will often pick one that DD can wear leggings under. she can wear the dress i picked for Easter for her birthday (if it is a cool day) and maybe even her sister's christening (if we do it in Sept.).
