Question for spectators at the LI Half-Marathon on May1st
DH is running in the half-marathon on May 1st -- so proud of him I want to bring our two sons to the start and finish lines to cheer him on -- does anyone here have recommendations for that? Our sons are 1 and 3yo - am I crazy to think my boys would love this? TIA!!

I think the kids would love it & get really excited! Very cute! and I'm sure your DH would love it as well!
It might be tricky at the start because there are SO many people coming and going just before the race starts & he'll be part of this huge chaotic crowd at the starting line you might not even be able to see him. I would suggest going to some spots along the route instead & cheering as he runs past you & then go near the finish line a little before he's expected there & you can watch him cross the finish line.
There were lots of families along the route & near the finish line last year. Sometimes the kids would run at the very end with their mom or dad across the finish line & everyone would cheer. Really cute!
Have fun!!!

Oh my goodness - my 3yo would definitely do that -- am I allowed to let him do this??

If your DH wants, I would have him carry your 3yo across the finish line. I would worry that a kid that little would get run over by all the runners!

Re: Question for spectators at the LI Half-Marathon on May1st
since I'm pregnant this year, I will be a spectator.
right now my plan is to say good bye at the start and walk back to Merrick Ave - this is the 3 mile mark - the runners do a loop, so you will have plenty of time to get there.
DH used to have the kids watch me and then play on the fields running around and hit the finish.
I was debating going to the 11.5 mile mark at Carmen and Salisbury Park Dr. and then walking over to the finish line, but then you won't see them finish.
If you don't park in the park, you may have some more options.

dh was with me at the start last year until about 10 minutes before, it was no problem. There are spots to watch close to that in the first 3 miles too. The finish line last year was really crowded. The last mile is always nice to see family, so I would go as close to the finish line, but work your way down away from the crowd (maybe 1/4 mile from the finish)
