Question for those knowledgeable in the breastfeeding dept.
Does anyone have a list of the foods that we can't eat while breastfeeding?
Is crystal light okay to drink? I'm curious about artificial sweeteners too

Re: Question for those knowledgeable in the breastfeeding dept.
Basically, I ate EVERYTHING! I was told not to stay away from anything unless DD shows a reaction.
I didn't drink though, i didn't feel comfy doing that even though both my doc and LC said if i wait an hour after i drink a glass of wine it won't be in my milk.
I was lucky DD ate like a champ with no reactions to anything. I ate gassy, spicy, dairy, artificial sweetners, everything.
it's actually good for you to eat a variety of foods as long as baby doesn't get gassy themselves, they get a little taste of everything you eat in your milk.

I agree, and I did the same!

I am trying to avoid: Caffeine b/c it gets in milk and babies process it slower Alcohol (I've had 1/2 glass of wine so far) Peanuts b/c of a strong history of allergies Dailry b/c every time I do DS gets horrible gas pains
Other than that it's a free for all!

You can eat pretty much anything. Just avoid too much caffeine and sweets.

Me three! Although in the beginning DD was colicky so I tried avoiding dairy and cruciferous veggies, etc but it didn't help so I figured I would continue eating all of that and just wait for her to stop crying!

Re: Question for those knowledgeable in the breastfeeding dept.
I eat anything I want, no restrictions here. I do try to limit my caffeine intake and I hardly drink alcohol but that's how I was prior to pregnancy anyway so there is no conscious attempt to avoid it.

I was told that this helps them to not become picky eaters as they grow up because they've had a variety of tastes from early on. I did however avoid dairy, green leafy veggies, citrus and tomatoes. DD was very gassy and fussy so I tried anything to try to help her. I don't know if it worked though.

I didn't restrict anything - but I did pump and dump if I drank alcohol, ate onions or broccoli or took benedryl. The first for obvious reasons, the latter three because DS became a monster after them.

Re: Question for those knowledgeable in the breastfeeding dept.
I ate whatever I wanted, and pretty much did even when I was pregnant. I did drink alcohol and caffeine too. The caffeine was minmal, so I wasn't concerned, and if I'd drink heavily I would pump and dump and give him stored BM.
