Question for those that had seen an RE--UPDATE!!!
For those that had seen an RE previously, but didn't need their assistance with a subsequent pregnancy, did they allow you to come in and check your levels and be monitored until you saw your OB?
I saw an RE to get pregnant with my DD a few years ago and never in my life imagined that I could get pregnant on my own (and accidentally), but it's happened! I got a pos test last night and today.
I called my old RE to see if they would allow me to come in and check my levels, considering I'm a former patient and the receptionist was so taken aback and told me that since I'm now pregnant they wouldn't see me. I was pretty surprised, but maybe I should't be?
UPDATE: So I saw Dr. Petrocelli on Friday evening. I'm exactly 5 weeks and he was able to see a small sac! Everything looked great and they took blood and I go back tomorrow to make sure my numbers are doubling. Feeling such relief and so happy that this OB was willing to see me so early. I guess I can tentatively join this board

Re: Question for those that had seen an RE
I think it would depend on what your dx was. I know someone who had multiple m/c and was seeing an RE. She did get pg naturally and the RE had no problem monitoring her. But if it was more of an MFI situation, I don't think there would be a reason for the RE to monitor.

Question for those that had seen an RE
Same thing happened to me last year. Congrats!
I called my OB instead of my RE. My first IVF was an ectopic so I told them I wanted to be seen to rule that out. They had no issues with that and I went in at 5w 4d. As PP mentioned, if you've had issues maintaining a pregnancy and needed meds like progesterone then I'd like to be seen early. Good luck!

Question for those that had seen an RE
Thanks! We had MFI and I had hyperthyroid and was on medication my entire pregnancy, but I don't have a history of miscarriage. It was just strange that the person I spoke to one the phone didn't even ask me any of these questions, she was just like if you are already pregnant we can't see you. I'm just nervous and so shocked and was really hoping to at least get my levels checked.
Unfortunately my RE is no longer with the practice, or I would have just asked for her directly.

Question for those that had seen an RE
I didn't go back to nun RE although he only took out of network ins so I definitely didn't want to go there. I just called my MFM instead of my regular ob

Question for those that had seen an RE
That is a strange response! I was seeing an RE for 3 years and during a "break" I was able to get pregnant on my own. I immediately called my RE and they saw me right away to monitor levels, do early sonos, etc. No objections at all. Now, for my second and third, I went straight to my OB. At that point, my OB knew my history (ectopic pregnancies) and had me come in a little early for my first appointment.

You should call your OB. They will determine if you need to come early. You should also call your endo. An endo will want to see you as soon as you get your BFP.
In your case, I wouldn't have called the RE, though.

Re: Question for those that had seen an RE
Same thing happened to me with DS3. RE wouldn't see me. But I asked my OB for betas and progesterone check and she did it for me.

I found an OB yesterday, since my old OB is in Manhattan and I wasn't planning on returning to them. I have an appointment with the OB next Friday to check my betas and my TSH levels.
I guess I should have realized that unless I had problems staying pregnant an RE wouldn't necessarily see me, but I just didn't really know who else to contact. I was really happy that the new OB was very understanding and got me in for an early appointment.

Re: Question for those that had seen an RE
Happened to me, and wasn't a problem to see the RE. Guess it depends on who your RE is. Good luck

Re: Question for those that had seen an RE
Mine was not willing to monitor a pregnancy that they did not facilitate, but my guess is that they're all different.
