Question for those that lost a parent...
First off, Im so sorry that you've had such a tremendous loss
Very good friends of ours lost their mom last week. She had dementia for 12 years (she was only 62 when she passed )
They've been through so much as a family. I have heard that when a family member has dementia/alzheimers, you lose them/mourn their loss twice
I'd like to get them something meaningful. My good friend loves personalized items that mean something, something tangible that she can hold and cherish.
What are some things you received or that you bought that are extra special to you.?
I do plan to cook / bring them food, which Ive also done in the past while she was sick and the family was so busy, but would like to do something extra special for them, and a special gift for my friend in honor of her mom.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Re: Question for those that lost a parent...
I lost my dad 14 years ago. I was young, 21. One of my most prized possessions is a photo of my family at my dad 55th birthday party. We were all happy and healthy. I don't know if it would have meant as much then, but a beautifully framed photo of her and her mom of a happy time would be a really nice gift.

i know it's been over a week, but my mom recently bought me a pandora charm to honor my dad (whom i lost in November). i agree it's the simple things that mean more...a photo or album or maybe even a personal story?

I just read your post and since you've done photos/frames in the past how do you feel about a nice locket? That way she can have her mom "with" her whenever she wears it? ThingsRemembered also has a ton of personalized gifts if that's helpful!
