Question for those with granite countertops in their bathroom....
Our house is brand new and we don't intend on living there for more than 5 years.. so we are trying to keep it pristine.
We have granite countertops in the bathroom...
We get toothpaste, mouthwash, shaving cream, etc. gunk on them all the time. I assume that this isn't good for granite (even though its not like straight ammonia or anything)
Do you have something you put under all of your toiletries in the bathroom? Should all of the bottles/tubes/etc. be lying on the granite at all times?
What do you do with all of this stuff? Are there trays or cloths or something I could put under them without it looking weirD?

We put those felt stoppers on the bottom of our accesories.
Granite is strong though and shouldnt scratch too easily.

I wouldn't leave too much on granite.
Anything with an acidic base, ammonia, etc. can eat right through it.
I would keep most toiletries in the cabinets or in baskets lined with an absorbent material. That way, if there is a leak, spill, it is contained in the basket.

Re: Question for those with granite countertops in their bathroom....
How often do you seal the granite? If you seal it, it shouldn't be a problem.
Ammonia and acidic things don't eat the granite, they destroy the seal. If the seal is destroyed, then the granite is prone to staining (and harboring germs) b/c granite is porous. Be sure to re-seal it at least every 12 months.
