Question for those with swollen feet/ankles
Do yours swell overall or do you have pockets of swelling? Mine are pretty much uniform, but I do have pockets that bulge more throughout the day. A few of them have punched out spider veins in those bulges. The spider veins stay, even when the swelling goes down when I sleep. Am I abnormal?
Also, I'm 27 weeks. Is it weird that the doctor hasn't looked at my legs or feet yet?

Re: Question for those with swollen feet/ankles
My midwife only looked at my ankles last week - since I had a big weight gain. I guess it's a pretty common thing - the parts they worry about more is your face and hands.
as for uniformity - I do have a buldge here or there at the end of the day - but when they are bad, it goes all the way to my toes - and it feels like I'm going to get stretch marks there

Re: Question for those with swollen feet/ankles
Funny- I just posted about my cankles...
Mine only started swelling regularly over the past few days. My Dr. remarked at my last visit (2 weeks ago), "Wow- you still have ankle bones." I guess that means that I was good on the swelling front.
She only started looking at my ankles about a month ago.
Mention/show your doctor. As far as I know though, as long as there is no swelling in the face you're OK.

Re: Question for those with swollen feet/ankles
Funny you should say that, I have been wondering when the docs are going to look at my ankles since they swell at night already (I'm 21 weeks tomorrow). I don't really have pockets but they swell if I've been walking too much or it's hot out.

Re: Question for those with swollen feet/ankles
My doctor has been checking my feet and ankles from early on. I can't remember exactly what appointment but its been for awhile. I am now 31 weeks and I.m swollen all over so my doctor put me on bedrest last week because of all the swelling. Just watch the swelling and show your doctor espescially with the heat and if you do alot of walking. I was commuting back and forth to the city for work and the walking back and forth to the bus killed my legs.

Re: Question for those with swollen feet/ankles
My dr. told me it was normal. Mine started in the 3rd trimester. It's really bad, it's hurts, I cannot fit in any shoes (even wide), I cannot bend my ankles much.
They check my BP carefully to make sure it's not going into pre-eclampsia. Especially since I started showing trace of protein in my urine.
But since the BP is fine and I have not gain THAT MUCH weight (a sign of pre-eclampsia also) they just told me to hang on until the baby was there.
- drink lots of water - elevate feet as much as possible - reduce sodium intake
