question for young moms

and by young, i won't specify an age as young is what you feelChat Icon
I am 28 and DH is almost 31 (had DS when i was 27) and i am a little surprised that no one (family, friends, etc) asks me when we are thinking of TTC #2. Infact when i tell people we want to try next year, they are shocked and surprised. It sort of bothers me, b/c i think they think b/c we are young and had DS young, that we should wait. But we want our children to be close in age and even if i get pregnant next year, DS and the next baby will be 2.5-3 years apart which is perfect in my opinion.
So my question is, does anyone else get this too from other people? Or am i the only one lol

What I get is:
"You won't want to start trying for another one until Jack is at least two"

Really? Thank you for your insight but you have no idea what I want.

Ugh - people and their comments! Chat Icon

And B, you know if you wanted to wait, you'd get the opposite response! Chat Icon

BTW - I still have 14 weeks to go with #1, and people ask me when we are going to have #2! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: question for young moms

I am 25 and would like to start trying when my first is 1 for various reasons. Everyone keeps telling us to wait longer. It is nobodys business and is so annoying when people put their two cents in

Re: question for young moms

i was 25 when I had MAdison and now I will be 27 when I have my 2nd and i think that is great. we think of it as when they are in college we will only be in our 40's and still have a long life ahead of us!! I enjoy having her now when I have the energy and time.. but everyone is different!

Re: question for young moms

I'm 30 and just had my first, I asked my doc (bc I had a c sec) how long I should wait for the second one. she said that I was young and should wait at least a year I still have plenty of time. IMO 30 is the perfect age to start a family, but I'm not "young" at all.

I guess it's better than ppl telling you to hurry you are getting old Chat Icon

Re: question for young moms

I had my son when I was 19 (DH was 19 too). No one asked when we were planing on having another one. He passed away at 4 1/2 months old. EVERYONE excepted us to have another baby right away. We did want another one but every month that passed that I wasn't pregnant I felt like a failure because everyone wanted us to have another one.

After we had our first DD no one asked when we would try again (I too think it because they thought we were young enough to hold off for years). We became pregnant by a happy surprise, our daughters are 14 months apart.

Everyone tries to talk us out of having more kids any time soon and we aren't planning on TCC for another 5-7 years! I had to finally tell everyone I have an IUD(which I would have preferred to keep to myself) just to prove we are trying to avoid any more surprises! Either way I feel like people are too invested in our sex life
