Question from new mommy

This is my first post on the parenting side!! I can't believe I'm finally here. I just had a quick question for you ladies...How often do you sterilize bottles? I did it when I first opened the pack and now I have been washing with soap and very hot water. Should I resterilize every so often?

Thanks for your input!

Here is a pic of my baby girl Parker Jane. She was born on August 22nd and weighed in at 8pds 14oz Chat Icon ! Just wanted to introduce!

I sterilized when I first opened the package and then about once a week in the very beginning, then once every two weeks, then once a month.....now I haven't done it in awhileChat Icon Like you, I washed with very hot soapy water daily.

Re: Question from new mommy

Congrats!! She's beautiful!

I did the same as you, sterilize when opened the pack, then wash in soapy water.
You can also throw them in the dishwasher for a hot clean, i was told not to throw nipples though in the dishwasher, it dries them out.

Re: Question from new mommy

Congratulations!!

In the beginning, I sterilized every couple of days. Then I decided I was wasting my time because my water is steaming hot (I have to wear gloves just to be able to tolerate the heat of the water). I just washed with the hot soapy water.

Re: Question from new mommy

I must be an idiot. I sterilized the bottles after EVERY use! AND...I did it for both of my kids for a whole YEAR!!! Wow...that was a colossal waste of time, huh?

Same here! But I don't think it's wrong. If anything, it gives me piece of mind that every bottle DS uses is squeaky clean. Chat Icon

She is adorable! Chat Icon

In the beginning I steralized about once or twice a week. By about 2-3 months it was more like once every few weeks, and by 6 months I didn't steralize at all, just hot water and soap.

However when she is sick I make sure to steralize too -- just in case. She's 10.5 months now.

What a beautiful daughter you have! Congratulations!

I sterilized every day in the begiinning. Then once every few days, then once a week, etc...LOL

eventually everything went into the dishwasher, which I hear is just as good as sterilizing.

I still steralize everyday - In the begining I ran the sterilizer a few times a day.

Now I do it once a night, it is a habit, not sure if its even necessary at this point Chat Icon
