question re: 8 month old and bottle

Is it normal to not want your 8 month old to hold there bottle and only be held for it? My SIL will be watching a little girl starting next month and that was part of her moms instructions. Just curious becase I always encourage my 1st to hold her own and plan on doing so with my 3 month old.

Chat Icon that is odd. I too encourage DS to hold his bottle.

I find it strange too, although my DD is nearly 8 months and still doesn't hold her own bottle...but by her own doing, not ours.

Re: question re: 8 month old and bottle

maybe she meant she doesn't want it propped with something so she said it has to be held.

i don't know, just a guess!!

Oh, that's true! I don't prop DD's bottles either. Maybe that is what she meant.

My 10 month old still does not hold her own bottle, but that is her doing. I wish she would start!!!

Maybe that's what she meant. My DD is almost 8 months & still not holding her bottle either, but that is her doing too.

Same here. And I agree that perhaps the mom didn't want the bottle propped. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt. Chat Icon
