Question re: Baptism Party
We're planning my DS's baptism for mid-end of August (booking it as soon as we get his birth cert). Okay, so I am inviting my best friend from VA, who is currently 37 weeks PG. My friend's mom lives in VA too, but her 2 sisters live here on Long Island.
IF (and that's a big if) she comes up for the baptism, her mom would come too. Would it be wrong to invite my friend, her DH and her mom only and NOT invite her sisters?
I don't really want to invite her sisters b/c all of them (friend, DH, mom and sisters) were invited to my baby shower, friend couldn't come (last minute per her Dr) but said her sisters would come. THey didn't come- nor did they call! I spoke with friend 2 days after shower and told her they didn't come, she was shocked! I sitll have not rec'd a reason for their no show.
I am afraid history will repeat itself, but I don't want to be rude.

Re: Question re: Baptism Party
Are you friends with her sisters? I don't see a reason why you couldn't just invite her and not her sisters.

Friends with them b/c of her. We have been friends for over 20 years.

Re: Question re: Baptism Party
If you are not friends with the sisters I wouldn't feel obligated to invite them.

Re: Question re: Baptism Party
Hmmm... you're considering them friends for over 20 years, then I personally would invite them. I don't think it's necessary it's just what I would do.
Are they close to your age? Did you girls hang out a lot? Do they know you are closer to the one sister?

Both sisters are older than me. I am only friends with my best friend--I speak with her once a week. I don't speak with the sisters. I'd only invite them b/c I invite my friend (and DH and mom).

Re: Question re: Baptism Party
You should invite who you want. I have learned from experience that if people are going to complain, they will do so no matter what you do. Just say that you want to keep the party small and so you cannot invite extended family/friends.
