Question re: Clomid vs. Injectibles

Hi, guys,

Ok, I am trying to remain positive that our first IUI worked; too early to tell.

But want to be prepared for our appt. on 3/28 just in case. I'm assuming that at this appt., since it should be CD2 or 3, that dr. will want to start us on another round of Clomid or injectibles. I did Clomid this month and he didn't think it worked for me as I only produced one egg. I'm pretty sure he's going to push for the injectibles next.

Do you think I should try Clomid again or start on injectibles? I'm nervous about injectibles but I'm not too keen on the side effects of Clomid when taken for awhile.

Any input would be great so that DH & I can discuss this before our next appt.

Re: Question re: Clomid vs. Injectibles

how many rounds of clomid have you done? And what dose(s)?

ETA: My dr started me on 50mg, then the 2nd month 100mg, then the 3rd month 150mg before moving me onto injectibles. He wouldn't allow me to just jump to them before that for fear that if the clomid would've worked at a higher dose (150 is the max) it would be better for me than risking way too many eggs on the injectibles. I never produced ANY follies on any of the 3 doses of clomid--- and then moved to injectibles.
I did my first round of injectibles and produced a bunch of follies but only 2-3 were 'mature' when I triggered.. HTH!

I did 2 rounds of Clomid. The first round I got 1 follicle and the second I got 3. My RE recommended 3 rounds of Clomid before moving on to injectables.

Re: Question re: Clomid vs. Injectibles

Thanks, guys; this was only my first round of Clomid at 100mg. I guess I'll move on to 150mg?

yes, it surprises me that your dr is so quick to jump to the next level. I remember my dr telling me you shouldn't be on clomid more than 6 months--- we tried each dose for 1 month and moved up a level each time from there.. GL!!!

Re: Question re: Clomid vs. Injectibles

I did 2 rounds of Clomid as well. 1st round was 100mg and I produced 3 follicles. 2nd round was 50mg and I produced 1 follicle. Due to my endometriosis we are now moving on to the injectables with another IUI.

Re: Question re: Clomid vs. Injectibles

Hi, I seem to have had a totally different experience with clomid and injectibles. I had the same results with both. Mostly on average 3 mature eggs each time. 3 rounds of IUI with clomid (started at 50mg and then went to 100mg) and 3 rounds with injectibles (gonal-f), all BFN's. For me the difference was with injectibles: slight weight gain, cysts and shortened my luteal phase (11DPO). Clomid actually made my LP longer (18DPO which was sort of upsetting if you know what I mean). Oh and for me, I could not swallow those chalky pills and I found the injectibles (once I realized how easy they were) to be better for me. Though I guess there were more eggs produced since I had a few cysts the next cycle, but obviously they never matured. and the optimist in me will hope and pray that this cycle worked for you (because you only need one mature egg) and that you wont have to find out. Re: Question re: Clomid vs. Injectibles

I recently had this debate as well. My RE wanted to start with injectables. I decided to start with clomid. Right now i think I would go up on clomid.

ps As our name implies continue to hope you'll get BFP this month!
