Question Re: Thank you's for parties
Do you feel they should be written out and personalized?
Or
with just a basic thank you is ok- say.....Picture and words of thank's printed out?
Just feeling out the opinions out there.
Thanks!

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
I think that ANY thank you (even those that have pics and a pre-printed thank you message) should each be handwritten out and personalized.
I find those pre-printed thank you's without personalization to be very rude IMO.

ITA. I always hand-write every thank you. I've heard too many comments from family about pre-typed generic messages from others so I avoid it all together.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
i had only 20ish thank you's to write so it wasn't such a biggie. i was able to whip em out during ds' naps. but any more than that..??? recipients will jsut have to understand getting a generic thank you card.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
My family is not big on the preprinted ones. I ordered them for Jack's thank you's when he was born bc I knew I would be in no state of mind to complete a sentence.
I don't give it a second thought either way when I receive thank you's - but I do think it's nicer to personalize them.

I agree. For DSs christening I did picture cards by on the back of each I handwrote a note to each person as if it was coming solely from my DS.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
I usually always write out thank yous, but for my DS's Christening I was so tired of writing thank yous from my shower and then for all the baby gifts I received that I decided to do ones with a picture and preprinted message.
I have received ones with the picture and preprinted message I and I do not get offended. As long as a thank you is sent I think it is fine. JMO I am sure others in my family may feel different.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
I do the picture and personalize a pre-printed message. I dont mean to be rude. I am horrible with any type of cards. My family and friends know better of me to care.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
I prefer them hand written & personalized, but it doesn't bother me to get the pre-printed ones from others.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
well, for me it is either you get a photo thank you or nothing at all, I don;t have the time to write thank you to each person (especially since the big events are at least 50 people)

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
I dont think i would ever send something preprinted without including a personalized note. my thought is that if people can take time out to get me a gift, I can take 30 seconds to write out a thank you note. I do other things to save time - like i make sure i have all the mailing labels pre printed. IMO addressing envelopes is far more painful than writing out the thank you.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
Funny you should post this question TODAY. I just got a generic thank you for a baby gift I gave when the baby was born. To be honest it rubbed me the wrong way. I like personalized thank yous and think that is proper. For a bday gift I could see why you would do the photos and wouldn't mind as much as I did with the baby gift one. However, it would be nice if you added a little personalized note with each one.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
I bought matching thank you notes to the invitations.
I will handwrite a personal thank you to each person who are coming.

I agree - for DDs' birthday I created a picture card and wrote a thank you note on the back of each one.

Re: Question Re: Thank you's for parties
I ordered note cards with a party pic on them through Shutterfly and hand wrote them all. I don't think it really matters either way though.
