Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
My 10 week old DD HATES tummy time!!!! Is this normal? How long should she be on her tummy per day? Any secret tricks to get her to like it more? I try to put her on her tummy twice a day. But she only lasts a few minutes before she starts bawling.

Re: Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
Tummy time doesn't only have to be on the floor...
Would she lay on your chest or DH's chest for a bit?
My FIL has been putting the baby on his stomach when he's on my FIL's lap too.
Try to use lots of toys or a mirror to make it a little more fun.. and a boppy pillow to help prop her up.

Re: Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
Totally normal for her to hate it. Just keep with it, and try to get some toys for her to reach for and play with. She'll start to enjoy that and won't be so ticked off about being on her belly.

I've tried the toys and doing it on our chests too, but DS still hates it.

We do the chest thing and DS loves it - he's not a fan of it on the floor.

Re: Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
My ds hated tummy time too. We just kind of made him do it for a few minutes at a time and in a short time (a couple of weeks?) he was fine. He liked a toy mirror that could be placed on an angle so he could see himself.

Re: Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
My ds hated tummy time always. We would do it periodically for a minute or 2. He is fine and never had any head control problems. just make sure he doesn't lay down all the time

Re: Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
My experience... Tummy time is overrated. DS hated it, so we never did it. No matter what "tricks" we tried he screamed bloody murder. With that said...here's DS at 4 months on his tummy...no practice needed.

Yikes!!! 15 minutes 4 times a day!!! She doesn't even last two minutes!!
Thanks for the advice...I have been placing fun toys around her and a mirror. I'm going to try to put her on my chest more!
Thanks again :)

Re: Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
DS hates tummy time too-he is 3 months.
However, we make him suffer through it 3 or 4 times a day. We use all kinds of toys, cheer him on, rub his back.
He is so strong, at least compared to our DD who was a lump.

Re: Question re: Tummy time for my 10 week old...
DD is not a fan of tummy time either. I would put her on her belly as soon as she woke up in her crib for a few mins each day. Then, at another time play with her on floor for a few mins. Then, try a few times with her on my chest. Like you, each lasted only a few mins. At around 4 months, she rolled from belly to back (she wasn't even lifting completely yet/ mini push up). Now, she's a pro at mini push up and can last a bit longer that she's interested in toys. She's still not the biggest fan. Just keep doing it and gradually she'll be able to last a bit longer and push up... HTH!

Mine hates it too. I sometimes do it on the Boppy pillow or on my chest. I give up
