Question re: UTI's

Could DD have one? She has been having small "accidents" in her undies. She has been fully potty trained with no accidents even at night for about 4 months. All of a sudden, the last week or so she has been peeing just a little in her undies before she makes it to the bathroom. Then yesterday she didn't want to pee for about 1/2 hour because she said it hurt. I gave her water and then she went fine and said it didn't hurt anymore. But now I am concerned it is a UTI. I am calling the doc as I write this but its busy.

Re: Question re: UTI's

Well, DD has had a UTI but she was still in diapers (a few days before she turned 1). Our red flags were HORRIBLE smelling pee and a really high fever...obviously she couldn't tell us if it hurt for her to urinate, but we didn't notice her being particularly cranky during the day leading up to the night we discovered the UTI, and obviously she peed all day long.

I have heard painful urination is a symptom though... I would get her in to the ped today if you can. They'll do a simple urine collection (not sure how at her age, whether she'll pee in a cup or do it like they did for DD-- attached a little baggie over her area to collect the urine).

Good luck!

Re: Question re: UTI's

Ugh, well thanks for the info. Doc doesn't open till 9:30. Knowing my DD (she is already trying to convince me it doesn't hurt anymore so as not to go to the doctor) I am going to see if they can give me a sterile cup to take home. In know I can get her to go in it but there is no way she is going to cooperate at the doctors office.
