Question RE: Weight Gain... When did you start counting?
Hey again,
Another question here - weight gain this time.
At 8 weeks, I had my first appt with the obgyn. I was told my weight, and then at 13 weeks I was up 3lb. From week 13 to week 17, I only put another lb on. SO, my grand total is 4lbs gained so far (I'm 18 weeks now).
My question is this - What happens to weeks 1-8 with weight gain? I don't weigh myself at all and I don't know if I gained or lost anything then. Do I just disregard those weeks?
Is it really possible that I'm *only* up 4lbs? I thought I'd really pork out once I got pregnant, and boy was I wrong (well, so far!).

Re: Question RE: Weight Gain... When did you start counting?
dont worry about weight gain it will come more towards the end atleast that is what my dr says I am 26 weeks I keep losing I am only up 1.5lbs now but the baby is a very healthy weight at 1lb14oz on monday they say that if you are a lil on the heavy side the baby will get what they need from your extra baggage...only when you are super thin do you need to gain alot because the baby will need more than what you already have. I was told that they want me to gain a max of 15lbs and they are thinking of increasing my cals to gain but not right now...

Yes it is possible. I am 23 weeks and only up 2 lbs. I thought the same thing for sure. It's hard to predict, pg really changes things.

only when you are super thin do you need to gain alot because the baby will need more than what you already have....
This is true, I was skinny and gained very quickly... 17 lbs. at 23 weeks! :P
Most of it was gained during the first trimester.
I won't worry so much about comparing weight gain with others to see if you're gaining adequately 'cus we're all different. :)

Not true for me...I am thin and gained nothing until week 16-18. Even at almost 31 weeks I am only up 12 pounds. Every one is different...as long as the baby is growing, you are fine!

Re: Question RE: Weight Gain... When did you start counting?
I usually weigh myself everyday, so I started counting immediately. I don't go by what the doc's office tells me-- I use my own scale.

Re: Question RE: Weight Gain... When did you start counting?
this has always been a question for me too. I lost 5lbs in the 1st trimester... so is my total weight gain calculated from that 1st trimester low point, or from the BFP (when I was 5 lbs heavier)
