Question regarding dessert @ kiddie party
The last few kiddie parties (at places) we have gone to didn't have food or cake for the adults.
I am getting pizza for the adults. The kids are getting cupcakes. Should I also buy a cake for the adults to eat? My cake lady is out of town that week so I would just run to BJs. Is that even necessary?
WWYD?

Re: Question regarding dessert @ kiddie party
Diana-I think I've learned enough about your party planning to know that you are going to get dessert for the adults.
Sure, it's not necessary, but you will do it anyway because your parties are not ruled by what is necessary
BJ cakes are good and only $20 for a 1/4 sheet. Or, you could pick up something from a local bakery, not a traditional sheet cake, but a coffee cake or dessert cake.

Re: Question regarding dessert @ kiddie party
I would..maybe not exactly one for each adult but I would get some extras for them to have.
I know Lucas will eat the frosting and then a little of the cupcake but that's it. So one of us usually ends up eat the rest

I am getting extras but those are if some kids want another one.
I think I will just get a small cake and have them cut it up for the adults.
Thanks everyone and Cranky you made me LOL!

We are doing the same - kids are getting cupcakes but I am getting a small cake to sing happy birthday and serve to the adults.

Re: Question regarding dessert @ kiddie party
everyone I know (adults) likes dessert so we would always have enough cake for the adults there. even a cookie tray would do though. it doesn't have to be cake.

We're providing pizza for the parents, and like you, are doing cupcakes for the kids. I'm getting enough cupcakes for the parents too.

Re: Question regarding dessert @ kiddie party
For Landon's party (today) I got a chocolate sheet cake through the party place. I also made and am bringing 40 mini vanilla cupcakes. So between the cake and 40 cupcakes, there should be enough to go around to the adults too.

Re: Question regarding dessert @ kiddie party
Maybe just get a cookie platter. I was at a party recently that had a cookie platter of all mini cookies...so your usual bakery-type cookies but all in mini size. The adults were gobbling them up..the ladies loved the small size of cookies I think so they could just have a taste (where I live women do not eat dessert...stepford wives...it's annoying b/c i love sweets!). Just an idea in case you wanted to do something besides a cake for the adults...

Re: Question regarding dessert @ kiddie party
I've always been served birthday cake. I'd be pretty upset if I went to a party and didn't get cake. I love cake!

I would get another cake. I can't imagine celebrating a birthday party and not offering friends cake with the kids.
