question regarding IVF and twins
hi ladies!
i had a quick question - if you do IVF, how early can they tell if you're having twins? Would they be able to tell you when you go in for blood work after your TWW? would you get a sono at that appt.?

I had an IUI, but it is the same for IVF -
You cannot tell from beta numbers if you are having twins, only from a sono.
I found out I was having twins at our first sono at 5.5 weeks. We saw two sacs.

you won't be able to tell until your first sono at 6 weeks.
after your 2ww, you'll get your beta - but high numbers don't always mean multiples (and low numbers don't always mean a singleton!)

Sometimes twins are indicated by a super high beta result after the TWW. Your first sono will tell the whole story at about 6 weeks.

I think it was 5 weeks. I had my first beta on 7/9/08 and then on 7/16/08 I had another sonogram and we saw 2 sacs.

My beta 'hinted' that it might be twins and at the 5 week appt we saw the two sacs but I do know people that have had very high beta's and had a singleton.
