Question: Why do you think so many people are against admitting they have had work done
I guess as they approach middle age? Is it bc the admittance of getting work done to reverse "getting old" is just as bad to them as getting old?
ETA my own opinion: If I had work done at any age, I would be happy about doing something that would make me feel complete.
So young or old--I am lost why so many people hide it ex: Madonna. Top of the world, a true pioneer for women, is a health nut, so so what if she does a little something here or there.

Perhaps because the #1 reason (I'd assume) to get any sort of "work done" is pure vanity... maybe people are embarassed to admit that they care so much about how they look to other people that they're willing to risk everything (health wise) and go under the knife. Who knows though.....

Re: Question: Why do you think so many people are against admitting they have had work done
That's a good question. Not sure if you're talking about celebs or people you know, but I just found out a friend of mine had some work done. Nothing drastic that I would've noticed, so it was a big surprise to me. And thinking back, I realize she totally lied to me about why she was missing work for a little while. I'm a little confused as to why she felt she had to keep it a secret even from her friends.
I guess, in a way, admitting to having had surgery is admitting that you weren't perfect to begin with. It puts you in a vulnerable place to tell the whole world that you looked in the mirror and didn't like what you saw. Some people would have no problem saying that, and others (I'm thinking famous people here) might have too big of an ego. Stars are "supposed" to be naturally beautiful and confident, right? Other people might just think it's personal, and not want to address it, or not want all the judgement that goes along with it. I don't really know.

Re: Question: Why do you think so many people are against admitting they have had work done
Because people judge you in the HARSHEST possible ways - and they generally don't understand why you did what you did and they don't know what it feels like to be you so they have no idea what it is like to walk a mile in your shoes and feel the way you have felt your whole life.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up lol.
ETA: I shouldn't say people without putting the word SOME in front of it - b/c it is not everyone but it is, from what I've seen, the majority.

like others said--because people tend to associate plastic surgery as a purely vain thing---and people who do it are rich & snobby and only care about appearances--so they probably don't want the stigma associated with it--to be associated with them.
i think to each their own. heck after i have kids i wouldn't mind bringing the girls back up to where they belong and not past my knees.

Frankly, I don't think I would share either. I can think of a few people who would judge me rather harshly. And its really none of their buisness anyway.

Because they don't want to be judged - what's important to some people are not as important to others. I think having plastic surgery can come from vanity which is not a bad thing. But I also know people that had some real self esteem issues due to their physical appearance and plastic surgery made the difference between loving & hating themselves. That's hard to understand when you are not walking in their shoes.

I know that as someone who has had plastic surgery that is the reason I didn't want to admit it for a long time. People seem to think that those of us that elect to have it are somehow less then they are. I finally decided that if I were honest about it then maybe I could help others understand that it wasn't a whim decision. I studied and really thought about how it could effect my life. I weighed the pros and cons and made the choice that was right for me.

b/c NATURAL beauty and youth are the holy grails of our society.
and getting "help" in any area would diminish your beauty...b/c you weren't born with it.
we are always looking for people to look up to...idolize...worship. but we don't want to be "fooled".
look at breast implants...you'd be ASTONISHED at the sheer number of websites devoted exclusively to "natural" big breasts. people latch on to the idea of them being better b/c you managed to grow them rather than purchase them. like there is some kind of skill in having all of your fat pool in one (or two) places.
but they exist. and they are "better"
