Questions - Im so lost
Okay, me and Dh are planning to TTC in June. I have been reading and trying to familiarize myself with FF, temps, and being more aware of d/c and ovulation symptoms.
So my question is:
1. Once you ovulate, do you continue to have d/c?
or
2. You have d/c only up until you ovulate?
3. As far as temping, I always sleep under a comforter and I find that my temperature is probably a lot higher because of that. Am I supposed to take my temp while I am still lying down in the bed before I even get out of the bed for FMU or to brush my teeth?
4. Are you able to have more than one peak day?
I am reading tcoyf now and am slowly picking up the concepts but I guess I need some clarity.
Any responses would be appreciated and helpful. Thank you

Re: Questions - Im so lost
I think I can answer these questions, but I am not sure what d/c is....I am thinking you are referring to cervical mucus?
Cervical mucus is common to have throughout your whole cycle but it changes due to estrogen levels. I will post a link...that shows the changes.
Cervical Mucus
During a typical 28 day cycle, the consistency of cervical mucus should be as follows: Days 1-5 Menses Days 6-9 Dry, or little to no mucus Days 10-12 Sticky, thick mucus, becoming less thick and whiter. Days 13-15 Egg-white mucus ò thin, elastic, slippery and clear. Indicates most fertile time. Days 16-21 Sticky, thick mucus Days 22-29 Dry mucus
The comforter wouldn't make much of a difference, neither does air conditioning or having a fan on etc. Charting should be done the same time every day, without getting up to go to the bathroom etc. Any activity you do can change the temp.
If you are using the clearblue fertility monitor, you will always have two peak days. That's how the monitor is set up. Most women tend to ovulate on the second peak day.
However, if you are using regular opks....you can have a few days of positives. The opks are predictors....you never know when you are catching the surge. It could be on the way up or the way down. Therefore, make sure you bd whenever you see a positive. In fact, you should bd until you are positive ovulation has passed. (charting can help you determine that).
I hope I was able to clarify some of this. TCYOF is a great book and I think it's terrific that you are trying to learn more about your cycles prior to TTC. I WISH YOU TONS OF BABY DUST

Thank you Redstar!! I have read several of your reseponses. You are so informative, a wealth of knowledge. Yes you have clarified my questions and I thank you for that.
D/c was my little acronym for discharge. I am still trying to learn all of this lingo So you have to bear with me. But I was indeed referring to CM. Thanx for helping me on that too.
I am going to start charting so I can get the hang it It seems like once you get started it is a very simple task to do each morning. So I am going to try.
Again, thank you. To be honest, I was actually hoping that you would respond to my post

Re: Questions - Im so lost
Redstar,
I just read your CM link. Thanx That was great. Very clear and concise.
I am in the transitional mucus phase right now....sorry TMI. I am just getting so excited that I am learning my body. Its sad that I am 29 and am just really learning about ovulation, CM, fertile days....well, the saying is that you are never too old to learn. RIght?
Thanx again.
I am so excited. I am anxious to BD these next few days. But we really want to wait till June. But my excitement is making me anxious

Go and buy that book....TCOYF. It's a great book and you will just totally understand your body much better. After reading this book, charting will just make sense to you.
When I used to Chart, there was an indication that I had hypothyroid and sure enough.....it was confirmed.

I also recommend this book. It will help you understand this process and you will learn the signs of your body which you probably never realized before.
Lots of luck!
