Questions about all these blood tests??
Ok, so I'm heading back in 2 weeks for all my blood work etc. I am really having a hard time trying to decide what to have and what not to have. Can you all share your personal opinions on all this... especially the one's about genetic disorders, etc.
I heard that so many of those AFP tests come back false postives and I DO NOT want to have to have an amnio.
Can anyone please share their thoughts and experiences...
THANKS!!!

I just took them all and they all came out fine. I have heard about false positives but I dont know anyone personally who it happened too. The tests actually eased my mind so I was happy to take them and get the results.

Same here except I know 2 people who got false positives with the AFP, one chose to have an amnio and the other didn't. Both babies were fine.

Re: Questions about all these blood tests??
Because we're both from European backgrounds, I was tested for cystic fibrosis (carrier, I wasn't, or DH would have been tested too).
I chose to do the ultrascreen and the AFP. Regardless of results, I would not have changed anything, but I would want to be prepared for any situation. The fact that neither is 100% is also ok with me. My doc was not in favor of an amnio and only would have done it if the results were iffy. All my tests have come back low-risk.
