Questions for Dr. Pillitteri patients and/or high-risk ladies
My RE suggested this morning that I decide on an OB and make an appointment. I want to switch from my OB/Gyn that I have been seeing. I was considering Dr. Pillitteri because he gets rave reviews on here, my RE has high regard for him, and he delivers at Good Sam. But I have a feeling I’m going to be high-risk. Between my ridiculous back issues and pre-diabetes, I just see it coming. I know Dr. Pillitteri works with Dr. Kofinas, but Dr. Kofinas does not participate with my insurance. So here are my questions:
If you’re a Dr. P patient and high-risk, do you see anyone besides Dr. Kofinas?
Will I have the option to select a different high-risk doctor that is affiliated with Good Sam?
Does it even matter if the high-risk doctor is affiliated with the hospital I want to deliver at? There are no perinatologists listed under my insurance that are affiliated with Good Sam.
Any recs for a high-risk doctor besides Dr. Kofinas?

Awh.. first
I do see Dr. Kofinas and Dr. P. Kofinas recommended Dr. P to me.
Dr. P is an amazing Dr. and always available! I've sent him a text at 1:30 am and he's gotten back to me w/in 5 minutes.
While they work closely together, there's no reason why you can't see a high risk Dr. that's in your network & covered by your insurance. The high risk Dr. will see you through out your pregnancy, but will not be there for the delivery (that I know of). If anything, he/she is not the only one there.
I'm sorry I don't have any other Dr. to recommend. Maybe your RE?
Best of luck! Hope you have a healthy & happy 9 months!

I am in the same boat, insurance wise. I will be seeing Dr. El Kady (at Good Sam) for my ultra-screen and any additional High-risk care I might need. Just got put on modified rest today at 12w...so I'm sure it'll be coming!

Dr P is a high risk dr. He is amazing - as a man and a doctor. I had to see a perinatologist b/c of diabetes and he sent me to Dr El kady. her office is actually in Good sam, she is awesome too - very thorough. I continued to see Dr Marc as well as Dr El Kady

I see Dr Pillitteri and Dr Kofinas so I can't help with the peri referral but I am more than sure that Dr P can. I wouldn't not see him just because my ins. wouldn't cover Dr Kofinas. He is an amazing Dr and person and I can NOT say enough good things about him!
p.s. side thought...do you have out of network benefits at all??? Thats how I see Dr Kofinas but I know a girlfriend of mine didnt have out of network coverage so she couldn't see him :(

I agree..I see Dr. Kofinas who is out of network for my insurance...all i had to do is meet my deductable (which i did already) and pay a 20 copay each time I go. My insurance covers 80% of my visits and Dr kofinas just accepts that

I'm not pregnant now but when I am I see Dr. Goldstein from Madonna Perinatal long with Dr.P. The two of them have helped me have 2 healthy kids. I would trust myself and my babies to no one else.

I saw Dr.P and Dr.El Kady while I was pregnant. Dr.El Kady is the one who discovered my complications. She handled everything so well and was so good to me and my DH (as much as she could be considering she had to break the worst news of our lives to us!).
I have not made a decision for next time as far as my OB, but I will definitely be seeing Dr.El Kady again. She's extremely knowledgeable and professional.

Re: Questions for Dr. Pillitteri patients and/or high-risk ladies
Thanks for all of the input ladies! Unfortunately I do not have out of network benefits. I think Dr. P is going to be my new OB. Madonna Perinatals has my insurance listed on their website and they're near my office, so if I need to see a high-risk doc I'll def look into them.
