Questions regarding buying in Fla
Within the next year or 2 DH and I will be looking to buy a condo/townhouse in Florida. At first we will us it as a get away, then maybe retire there at some point later on.
I'm not familiar with FLA at all. Does anyone know of an area where the people are on the younger side ? I'm 41 and DH is 47.
Thanks.

Re: Questions regarding buying in Fla
orlando is great, but about an hour from the beach. personally, i don't like south florida (ie. west palm beach, ft. lauderdale, miami), but many people do.
st pete/clearwater is also nice.

Re: Questions regarding buying in Fla
I was born and raised in the Tampa/St. Pete area. If I were looking for the reasons you said I would look primarily in Pinellas and Manatee counties.
If you want relaxing areas look in Manatee, it is not as fancy (if you know what I mean) as it is up here, but the people prefer a laid back lifestyle. Lots of open air dock style bars.
If a faster pace is what you're looking for go with Pinellas. Due to the large tourist trade the bars and restaurants are much hipper.
Both locations are quick trips to Tampa for a more sophisticated night out.
Good luck!

Both sound nice and at least that gives us a good starting point.
Thanks so much for your input.

Re: Questions regarding buying in Fla
when my Dad and brother relocated to Fla- they both rented in the area they liked best for a year to test it out
I would try to do the same thing- spend a week or 2 in the area you like
personally I love south FL- I would move to the Delray beach - boca area- the life style works for me
