questions to ask looking at a home
We're officially starting our house search and finally actively looking at homes.
We're both pretty young and new to this though. Are there any questions we should be asking?

Re: questions to ask looking at a home
when i was looking i usually asked if there have been any updates made in the past few years, ex- roof, heating, etc.. and usually the listing had info that i wanted to know such as School District, taxes, heat type (oil or gas), AC, and other things but if there was something that was not on the listing that i wanted to know i asked the realtor...

Re: questions to ask looking at a home
And if something important isn't new (like the boiler, hot water heater, appliances) you want to ask how old they are. Some things last 40 years but that's not typical. Most appliance salesman will tell you that appliances are not expected to last any longer than ten years. Just something to keep in mind.
I'd also ask: - if the basement has ever flooded - ever had water damage in the home - mold or insect infestation - proper insulation - ask about what is staying with the house (appliances, lighting, etc) - when they expect to move out (if they're in a rush and want to close quickly or if they would rather take their time) - do they have all the proper COs - what type of heating (gas, oil, hot water, forced air, etc) - if CAC - get details on system to make sure it's sufficient for the home, been maintained, age of system
