Questions we might expect from the co-op board.
For you co-op dwellers, what were some of the questions you faced during your interviews?

I never lived in one, but friends we have were asked anything from financial info from the application to how they felt about their jobs, what do they enjoy doing on the weekend, etc. It can be like a conversation, informal - or very formal like a job interview.

The days of "tough co-op boards" are pretty much done for.
They rarely ask anything noadays.
Since prices are rising so much... its in their best interest to NOT deny anyone and keep the values going up.
The general rule of thumb is... if you can get a mortgage... you should be good enough to get a co-op.

I hope your right! It isn't like this is an elite co-op or anything and we're good people, good tenants, responsible and hard working. I'm just scared they'll have their noses up at us.
But DH pointed out that if they refuse us, the sellers would be ****** because of all the time they put into selling the co-op to begin with. So you're right, it is in THEIR best interest to accept us.

Just MAKE SURE your paperwork is in order -- I had a buyer who had a mortgage, union job, but they rejected her. I am not sure if it was racial, or not (I suspect it was) -- the Board has no obligation to explain their rejection to you or anyone.
They did hint to me that when the board questions the buyer about the origin of funds, the buyer should be totally transparent from the beginning...
