Quick help - How much pasta and sauce do I need?

I am making rigatoni alla vodka by getting the sauce from my local pizza place and making the pasta at home. I need a full (sterno) tray.

How many boxes and how many pints of sauce?

3 boxes, 3 pints of sauce...save one pint to add to pasta once it soaks it all in.

I would just go by how many people. And allocate 1 cup pasta per person (assuming you are having other things) or 1/2 cup per person if you are having a lot of other things.

Figure 2 oz = 1 cup pasta
1 box - 16 oz (8 cups)

I would allocate 1/2 cup sauce per cup pasta.

So if you were doing 3 boxes of pasta, which would yield 24 cups, then I would want at least 12 cups of sauce, which would be 6 pints. (Hopefully all of my math is right here!)

I might even get extra sauce just in case the pasta absorbs a lot or it starts to dry out, or if you have leftovers and want to add more sauce. But I like things saucy!
