Re: quick question.
it svery hard to judge anyone else until you have been in that situation....classrooms are not always sweet and lovely.
Also- if you are only there for 2 hours at a time- you really dont know what else goes on there the rest of the day kwim?

Re: quick question.
i always said i would never yell at my students when i was observing. eight years later, i rarely do. but sometimes, the kids behavior just pushes you passed the point of no return. it happens. it shouldnt be happening every day, but it does happen. its part of being a human being, i think.

Re: quick question.
I agree with previous posters- it's not always rainbows and flowers.
But, at the same time, it sounds like the anger and yelling is more the rule than the exception in this case, so no that is not normal.
I was placed with a 1st grade teacher like that for 1/2 of my student teaching. I learned nothing from her, I truly think they only placed me in her room because she went to the bathroom constantly and didn't have to call the office for relief when I was around!
It's sad, really. Not that I think tenure is a bad thing, but there are some teachers that really need to be out of the classroom that will stick around making kids miserable until they are good and ready to retire.
