Quick Question for someone who works in a bank
I am selling my timeshare. The buyer wants to use a Credit Card check. I don't feel comfortable with that.
IF I say yes and I immediately take it to my bank, will it clear immediately or will there be a hold on it?
TIA...

the credit card check is only as good as their available credit line....the check itself will take the normal 5-10 business days to clear.
I would insist on either a certified or bank check

Re: Quick Question for someone who works in a bank
The check will NOT clear immediately, you should request a Bank Check or Official Check. Depending on the amount of the check there will be a hold on it even if it is a Bank or Official Check.
My suggestion is that you do NOT accept the Credit Card Check as form of payment due to the fact that fraud is so common these days. Even if the Credit Card Check went into your account without a hold, the check could still bounce or come back fraudulent.

I agree- someone stole those checks out of my mail box once and used it to pay their college tuition. Not the brightest idea- but i think it's pretty common.

Agreed. If that's how they want to pay for it, tell them to write the check to themselvse or cash, deposit it, and give you a bank check when the funds clear.

Thanks a lot - I didn't like the sound of it but now I can tell her my "sources" have advised me....and that way not sound like I don't trust her....

Yikes, sounds like they could really use that college education!
