I would include the 'by' but who knows if I am right...but that's how I do it.

Re: quick question re: rsvp

I would put "Please respond no later than September 1, 2008"

I have learned that a LOT of people have NO IDEA what the term "RSVP" actually means and have spent countless time chasing people down to find out if they are coming or not to parties.

I agree!! I even go so far as to put "please let us know if you will or will not be attending" on DS's invites and people still don't "get it" Chat Icon

One of my pet peeves is people who do not bother to RSVP.

Re: quick question re: rsvp

For the sake of brevity I would say RSVP by September 1, 2008. As a lawyer, I really want to say RSVP on or before close of business on September 1, 2008!!!!

Re: quick question re: rsvp

I have had good results without putting an RSVP date on invites...I think for some reason people see that date and think "Oh I have plenty of time to call etc" and stick it up on the fridge and every time they walk past it they see that RSVP date and postpone calling...

I just put RSVP on my invites now...
