How long is the train ride? Are you walking to Radio City from Penn?

I would leave an hour and a half. The LIE can be really slow as well as getting across town. I would rather have extra time then sweat it out.

I agree! You could make it into the city in record time and then get caught up going across town.

I would give myself at least an hour and half -and if it is very important to you to be there on time even more than that. I almost always drive to NYC when I go in and rare take the train except when I was going for work. When I was pregnant with DD#2 I was driving to my OB appts in the city on 60th between Madison and 5th from Garden City South which is easier to get to than Radio City since it is almost right off the 59th street bridge. The amount of time can vary greatly from day to day. The shortest time it took was 40 mins the longest was over well over 2 hours. All you need is roadwork, bad weather or an accident and you can hit heavy traffic. Sometimes it takes a long time on the parkway and sometimes I hit the city smoothly then hit heavy traffic trying to get across town.

At least an hour and a half -- if it's imperative that you are on time, give yourself closer to 2 hours.

It's basically NYC law that if you leave super early, it'll take you 45 minutes to get there. If you don't give yourself enough time, it'll take 2 hours. Chat Icon
