ragdoll cat owners? or cats that follow you EVERYWHERE?? (even to the shower)
So, my lovely kitty that we adopted from the shelter (she is 4) is wonderfully sweet......and while this may sound very cute, it also has it's drawbacks:
my cat follows me everywhere.
EVERYWHERE.
whether I'm doing my makeup, going to the bathroom, or even in the shower (she wants to jump in), or merely walking up the stairs...there she is! she lays next to me, waiting for me to finish and then follows me on to the next task.
I had heard that this was one of the breed characteristics of this cat, and I believe she is a ragdoll.
is this normal? or is it some sort of anxiety?
I feel like I have a kitty shadow!

I'm no help, but that is so freakin cute!!!! My puppy does this too, not as much any more but he used to follow us everywhere! Even when I was in the bathroom, he wanted to sit on my lap! haha!!!

My dog does the exact same thing!! In the mornings, she's laying on my lap as I get ready, follows me into the bathroom. If I close the door, she pushes it open. No privacy allowed

My dog is the SAME WAY! I'll close over the door to the bathroom bc if I close it all the way he has an anxiety attack and tries to claw through it! He always has to check to see where I am or where I am going. I wonder if this is a rescue thing though?

My dogs are the very same way, especialy Lucy! I'm going to break my neck tripping over them! It's so sweet, but they are going to kill me one of these days!
Speaking of following you everywhere.... when we first got our pitbull, Lucy, she really was our shadow. She was abandoned in the park so she had some separation issues. She still has to constantly be touching somebody. Anyway, she used to like to climb into my lap when I was at the computer or on the couch or even at the dining room table. She was smaller then and I'm a sucker so I let her. Until she followed me into the bathroom, and tried to climb onto my lap while I was on the toilet. We had to put a stop to that VERY quickly.

My first puppy was like that in the beginning. He followed me everywhere, slept cuddled up next to me (not just on my bed, but head on my pillow like a person), sat on my lap when i watched tv, and one day I was in the shower wetting my hair, turned around, and there he was in the shower with me. He did that all the time for awhile, and was a very clean dog since he showered every day :)
now, he DOES have some anxiety issues. a year later i got a second dog and that actually helped a lot. he had a buddy to be with all the time, even when i was at work, and he seemed not quite as anxious.

My dog does that too -I think it's hilarious. heaven forbid if dh and I are in different rooms. He just walks back and forth between us every 10 minutes on patrol

My cat does the same thing, usually sits on the toilet while I'm in the shower. If I'm in the kitchen, she sits in the window or on the bar stool. She follows me everywhere, has to sit near me when I sit, and sleeps with me too. DH gets a bit jealous at times because she's not the same way with him.

I can totally relate! I love my cat like crazy but there isn't a minute when she's not with DH or myself. Sometimes I need a break from her but she gives me a sad look and I melt LOL

One of my cats does this too! If we're walking down the stairs, he weaves in between our feet so that he can be right on top of them!

My cat does this too. He even sits in between the liner and the curtain (with his tail hanging INTO the tub getting wet) he likes me to play with him while I am in the shower and I start poking at the liner and starts pawing at my hand. He's just a love bug and I wouldn't have it any other way.
