Raising a 2 year old
ain't easy!
I feel like so much of my time with her is spent "training" her.
"Use your nice voice" (she whines a lot these days)
"Use your manners"
"Use your nice words"
It's so hard not to lose patience but I know it's just the age, right? Tell me it's just the age
She really is a great little girl but it's just such hard work to maintain my composure, but I keep reminding myself, I'm the one setting the example.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Raising a 2 year old
I said the same thing to DH yesterday.
Parenting would be a lot easier if it wasn't for the whining. And Luca doesn't seem to get what using his "nice" voice means - when I say to him, "Ask nicely," he'll tell me "Niiiiice"
Luca is such a good boy too, I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Izzie gets him in to - because I know she'll be the devilish child!

That is soooo cute! Hopefully she'll follow big brother's footsteps and be as awesome as he is. He is a result of your wonderful parenting.

Re: Raising a 2 year old
And this is why some days, I'm happy I do work.
I think it's just the age. They are into everything because they are so curious about the world. I'm constantly saying, "Put that back where you found it."
And the whining or screeching gets a little too repetitive.
If I say, "Say thank you." He nods yes. As if to say, 'Yep, that's what I should have said!"
Syd speaks so well, you're lucky that you're still not trying to understand gibberish.

My friend just told me the same thing on Saturday.
Pretty much solidifies me only having two kids

Re: Raising a 2 year old
Oh my god... DD just turned 2 last week... somedays I just cant handle the whining!! thankfully her temper tantrums have calmed down a bit... but sometimes she just shrieks for no reason and that noise scares the cr@p out of her little brother...

Re: Raising a 2 year old
I lumped all of those into "GOOD MANNERS"... I tell him, don't yell - that's good manners...
I got him a good manners chart - like his potty chart.
I still think its not as bad as why mommy? why? why? WHY? WHY???"

ohh My DD is a handful too! The temper tantrums are what really gets to me. When we are out she is so hard to handle sometimes, she sits on the floor and won't get up!

Re: Raising a 2 year old
Funny cause this JUST started with AJ this past week.. out of the blue my sweet child has been a whiny brat. Clearly not herself and completely unacceptable. She's even been storming out of her time out if no one is watching her.
So yes I agree with this....
Posted by neener1211 And this is why some days, I'm happy I do work.
I wonder who she is some days. And I'm very glad my aunt is taking care of her but then I wonder what's going to happen when she goes back to daycare!
Posted by neener1211 Syd speaks so well, you're lucky that you're still not trying to understand gibberish.
SERIOUSLY!!! AJ doesnt speak well at all yet. I have to tell her "Say please" and she will. But mostly she just speaks utter gibberish angrily at me like I should just KNOW what it is she's so mad about.
She has NO tolerance or patience of ANY KIND! She wants what she wants right now and woe be the one who asks her to repeat herself or speak words or just wait one second!
Heck sometimes its just straight to whining and crying and screaming in frustration.
All this started seriously this week. Its been so freaky to watch. But then as fast as it comes it goes. The clouds part and the light of my life beams through.
ETA: its been a battle btw. I put her time out with just about every outburst. She gets her impatience from me. I won't tolerate it. She WILL go to time out and she WILL stay there until *I* say otherwise ....
so its been a battle of wills
