Raleigh, NC KOSHER Restaurants, Do They Exist??? Please Don't Move Post
I know some of you ladies live in NC, not sure if it's in the vicinity of Raleigh. Anyway, my boss's elderly aunt and uncle are going to Raleigh for a few days and asked me if I can find any Kosher restaurants. I couldn't get much info from him other than that they are staying at the Sheraton on Salisbury (is that still kind of vague?). He doesn't hear very well and talks over me on the phone. I did suggest that he call the Sheraton and ask them too but he hung up on me . I thought I'd give it a shot here. I did google but not much help! TIA!!!!!

1) call the hotel yourself. If they don't know any places, ask them to read off the local temples (they usually know local places of worship).
2) call the temples and ask.
Will they eat at non-kosher restaurants if they just stay meat-free? Will they accept vegetarian-only restuarants as a substitution? That may be easier to find.

Oh, and is the hotel close to Duke? Call the chabad or hillel on campus, they will probably be able to give you a list (or might even invite you over to eat, who knows).

Having lived for many years in the triangle area of NC, I can almost guarantee you that your kosher options will be limited at best and non-existent at worst. There just isn't as large a Jewish population there as there is in NY.
I ran a search on shamash.org and only found two options -- one a dining hall on Duke's campus (not open to the public) and one in Wilmington, at least a couple hours from Raleigh.
You may still want to call the hotel and/or a temple in Raleigh to be sure, but I wouldn't think there will be many options unfortunately.

Duke is a good 35 minutes from the Sheraton on Salisbury in Raleigh.

There are some Halal places in Cary where I am, which is extremely similar to kosher, but obviously not the same.
I went to temple in February for my grandmother's yahrzeit and the people there were EXTREMELY nice. Here is a link to their website:
http://www.templebethor-raleigh.org/
I would honestly just give them a call and ask because the people at the temple are going to be the best people to ask.
There are several NY "style" delis in the area, including NY Bagels III in Cary and NY Bagels and Deli in Morrisville, but I don't think either place is Kosher. There's an amazing turkish place in Cary called Bosphorous but I don't think that's kosher food either.
Sorry I'm not more of a help, but hopefully the people at Temple Beth Or can help out!
There are some very good vegan places in the area... usually vegan food is kosher by definition... but might not be what these friends would enjoy eating.

Can I buy kosher food or find a kosher caterer in Raleigh?
There are now several choices for kosher meat in Wake County. You can purchase Empire and Hebrew National products in supermarkets including Harris Teeter, Kroger, and Fresh Market. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s carry kosher products as well. While there are no kosher restaurants or kosher catering halls, several caterers are approved to provide kosher catering at Beth Meyer:
Kaplan Catering: 919-274-0456 Catering Works: 919-828-5932 Cabbalah Cowboys Cohaine Caterers: 919-789-9274 (aka Arthur Gordon) restaurant [ visit website ] [e-mail ] Mitchell's: 919-847-0135

http://www.jhfnc.org/ this is a jewish museum in NC. Perhaps they have an on site restaurant?

Thanks for all the info! You ladies rock! I had planned on calling the hotel myself, but wanted to see what ya'll had to say, lol!
They are strictly kosher so no way they would consider a restaurant even if it was vegetarian.
Thanks again!
