Ran the Brooklyn Half this weekend
What a great race! Blows the LI Half out of the water. New York Road Runners really knows how to put on a great race. The volunteers were awesome, they had water/gatorade at EVERY mile which is not typical of most races. The coolest thing is that the finish line is on the Coney Island boardwalk.
The only "con" of this race was that it was a point-to-point. It started in Prospect Park and ended in Coney Island. So we had to drive to Coney Island, park the car, then subway up to Prospect Park. Since the race started at 7, we had to leave our house at 4:15. I will say that it was very easy, we had everything timed perfectly and it worked out great. I prefer the early start, especially since it was 96% humidity on Sat!! And I had to get home for a communion party, so the early start allowed me to still do the race and make the party.
I had a decent race, ran it in 1:58. Not a PR, but my goal for this race was to break 2 hours since I knew it was a tougher course, it was way more humid out than when I PR'd in Oct at Diva and I was probably better trained last time. I had to skip a long run this time because my 2 children and I came down with the awful stomach virus a couple of weeks ago. So, overall, I was happy with my time.
Just thought I'd mention this for anyone looking for a great spring half marathon to do next year!!

4:15 although at least starting at 7 am lets you finish before it warms up too much!
How was the loop in Prospect park? I read that you have to loop it twice - was that confusing?
I love NYRR races - bc/ of the corrals!

Ha ha...yeah, I'm used to getting up early to run anyway, so it didn't faze me. Prospect Park was not as bad as I thought; I have zero hills near me, and even with no training on hills, I was fine. It was not confusing, they had people really directing everyone and after the first loop, you knew when it was time to leave the park.
Yeah, the corrals are great. I did not find myself having to weave around too many people at all.

Parking was super easy! There was street parking available, but my friends and I decided to pay the $10 and park at the Cyclones (the baseball team) stadium parking lot. It was so close to the finish line and at least we didn't have to worry about getting tickets, towed, etc. Worth the $$$. No finisher medal, but my feeling is that it only cost me $25 to run a half marathon compared to $50-60 for Diva and the LI Half.
