rapid heart
i was rushed to the er last week at work with a rapid heart rate and feeling faint. i also had blue hands. i was told it was anxiety and discharged.
it happened again today and i saw a cardio. he heard a murmur. anyone have experience with this? he discussed meds or surgery pending test results. Any experience? My symptoms for the last month have been a rapid heart rate, trouble breathing, numbness in my right hand, feeling faint. I am wearing a heart monitor for 24 hours and going for an echo tomorrow, he did hear murmur just during the exam. Not sure what to expect. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: rapid heart
No advice but I hope you feel better soon. Glad your doctor seems to know what he is doing. I can't believe the ER just discharged you and said it was anxiety

Re: rapid heart
I have a heart murmur and mitral valve prolapse. Sometimes I get a rapid heart beat and sometimes I feel like my heart is actually skipping...kind of scary. I also have bad anxiety which doesnt help the heart rate issue.
Before any kind of surgery I would go for a second opinion. I have a fabulous cardiologist group that I have been using since I was 16 if you are interested.

Re: rapid heart
I would suggest seeing Dr. Levine at the St. Francis Arrythmia Center. They toldme I had anxiety for 5 yrs and he finally diagnosed me. You may need a long term monitor to correctly diagnose this.

exactly!!!got same dx today after my echo!!! I have moderate case of mvp with blood leakage!!! The mvp causes my anxiety to go nuts and i hyperventilate and it stinks people just chalk it up to anxiety. i was surfing the net with the last attack, wasn't anxious at all and probed hospital wrong, was not an anxiety attack!! i kept saying this feels different than a panic attack, something isn't right. for me to in an ambulance to the er was huge, i knew i had something else going on.
do you take a beta blocker? that was an option presented to me. i was also told i would need a valve replacement down the road, that upset me b/c the same procedure killed my grandmother....on the or table.

He didn't take my insurance BUT he will work with you if you write him a letter. I pay my $500 insurance ded. every year and then he excepts whatever my insuarnce will give him once he mails it in. so basically for the year I pay $500 a year to see him which is well with it
