rash on c/s scar - the itching is driving me nuts!
Since Friday, I have a rash on my scar and am now on my 3rd ointment which finally seems to be helping.
For the itch, I've been taking benadryl but with DH getting up for work really early in the AM, I don't want to be wiped out by the benadryl and not be able to take care of DD during the night.
Has anyone else had this? Can you recommend something else for the itching?

I had the same problem. I use Cortizone cream also but they sell on that is prescription strength. I found it in Stop n Shop. It's a little expensive though, about $8.00 a tube. I found that to work the best.
Good Luck

Re: rash on c/s scar - the itching is driving me nuts!
this hot humid weather is killer for those c/s incisions
Make sure you are keeping it as dry as possible, after my shower I would take a hair dryer to it (on COOL of course!) and then lie down and make sure it was air dry.
I couldn't touch it for months, but most people aren't so squeamish!
Your Dr. may be able to prescribe something to give you relief

I was just saying this morning that I can't believe at almost 6 weeks later my incision still hurts. I am going to the dr. today - I can ask her for you Donna if you want.

Milk of magnesium i.e. Malox on 4x4s and put them over the itch. I developed tape blisters from the tape and have to use this to heal them. It alleviates the itch. I also use a really thick maxi pad across the c-section to keep it dry. I change the pad every time I go to the ladies room. Keep the scar dry. Good luck.
