Rate for childcare in your own home?
It's likely that my SIL will be watching our baby for the first year in our home. The hours are not very long but they are early - Mon/Wed/Fri 6:45 - 2:30; Tues 5:30 - 4 and Thurs 5:30 - 2:30. She's happy to do the early hours and I want to be fair with the pay regardless of her being family. Do you think $1,200 a month is good? Please be honest.

Re: Rate for childcare in your own home?
Honestly, if my calculations are right its over 40 hours a week (43). $300 a week is a little light, but it is family..so she might not accept more. I might offer a little more.

Re: Rate for childcare in your own home?
I have not looked into in-home childcare pricing at all, but is that really all people are paid?
You're talking 43.5 hours/week, right (Math is not my friend)? That's under $7/hour, right?

Re: Rate for childcare in your own home?
in home daycare, where you bring your child to someones house to do it, i heard can charge avg. $300-$375 per week.
i dont know if that would be more if they are going to your home to do it.
but it is a family member, so i would assume there would be some sort of family discount.

I agree! I worked as in home childcare provider 6 years ago, only worked four days a week, and made almost that much per week...
I was paid $60.00 per day, and then extra if they needed me early, late, or to work the 5th day. Why don't you figure out how much it would be per day, and offer her a daily amount, that way if you dont need her for a day, or if she is sick for a day, it is easier to figure out. I was paid at the end of each week.
ETA that they also fed me lunch everyday...they would stock up on the things I like to eat! I miss that job!!!
