RAVE!! Pediatric Immediate Care in Smithtown
In the past we've used PM Pediatrics but now that we moved it is a hike. Last week when I picked Kylie up from daycare (6:30 pm) she had something wrong with her eyes and face. Her whole face around the eyes was swollen, her eyes barely open, eyes bright red, and neon green discharge coming from her eyes. We weren't sure if this was pink eye, some kind of allergic reaction, or something else. I decided to try out this new place on Jericho Turnpike in SMithtown and it was GREAT! We were in and out within 15 minutes. The nurses and NP we saw were great with Kylie. Unlike PM Pediatrics, this place is set up hospital ER-like, with small exam rooms set up between curtains, but I guess it is good because there was NO WAIT to get into a room. The NP was so sweet and took the time to talk, even giving me advice for my other 2 kids. They electronically sent over Rx to CVS, and I picked it up on my way home, so round trip from home including visit plus picking up meds was a half hour. I will definitey be going here again. They also have locations in brooklyn and lindenhurst. http://www.pediatricimmediatecare.com/index.html

Thanks for posting this. I was very weary about the place because it seemed a little, um, patchwork-put-together from the outside with their homemade signs, KWIM? I didn't know how good a place could be if they couldn't afford better signage... They started out with spray painted signs on plywood.... I guess it just left me feeling uneasy. I like the idea of a place so close as an alternative to the hospital for small injuries like the one you described. I'll definitely consider it.....

Ha! That was the term I WAS going to use, but didn't know if it was too offensive or not... You took the words right out of my mouth!

Re: RAVE!! Pediatric Immediate Care in Smithtown
I had gone there a few months back because I too didn't want to drive to PM pediatrics and DS had a bug bite that made his face swollen and his eye swollen shut. I was seen quickly but there was no one there. Not one other patient. It was clean. And they were friendly. I liked the set up However I barely understood what the doctor was saying because of her thick accent. I asked repeatedly why there were giving my son a shot.

Re: RAVE!! Pediatric Immediate Care in Smithtown
i had a good experience, too. I especially love that they bill as a regular sick visit, not an urgent care facility.
we took Logan there about 3 mos ago- he was tugging at his ears and crying "owwww". He's never had an ear infection so i didn't know what to look for - turns out he was fine, just had some hardened wax that needed to be removed with the long tweezers/syringe thingy. well worth my $20 copay to have them do it - it took 4 people to hold him down, so there's no way i could've done it myself.

Re: RAVE!! Pediatric Immediate Care in Smithtown
They are great there. The main dr. Is our twins pediatrician and at first I was very leary about this place but now we love them. We hike from lindenhurst to smithtown instead of going to the lindenhurst location because of the dr. We called at 10:55pm on memorial day as they were about to close and they waited for us to get there from Lindenhurst because DD was so sick. Then they stayed until midnight to give dd a nebulizer treatment. We can't say enough good things about them.
