? re: cleaning kitchen tile & grout
We just bought our house and the kitchen tile (typical tile, I guess ceramic?) is disgusting. The grout is nasty. Can I hire someone to make it look like new again? I just dont think me getting on my hands and knees would work, and if I did, can I even use bleach on the grout? Any other ideas?

I use steaming hot water and distilled white vinegar. The combo of the two makes the tile and grout look like new again. Just get a good squegy (sp?) mop.

Re: ? re: cleaning kitchen tile & grout
the company that we used to clean our carpets offers grout cleaning. One thing to think about is how old is the grout. If its too old, the 'steam" cleaning they do might distroy it....thats what they told us.
I did however buy a spray on grout cleaner....it comes out in a foam, and I let it sit for a bit, scrubbed it with a stuff brush then washed it all down. It got the grout clean but over time all grout will age and turn color.

Re: ? re: cleaning kitchen tile & grout
I would definitely get a professional floor cleaner to clean out the grout and then have the floor resealed again. It'll look BRAND NEW and it'll be a lot easier to maintain. Definitely get the Steam Mop for the tile maintenance....nothing really works for the grout. I have stone ceramic tiles throughout my house and at the beginning we actually removed the grout, regrouted and resealed the floor but then it changed color again. So I'd say, just get it professionally cleaned and resealed from time to time.

Re: ? re: cleaning kitchen tile & grout
if it is whote grout you can use the clorox bleach pen .... apply and let sit then scrub. It should help. If it is that gross, you can regrout (scrape out old grout and redo), BUT, as you put a mop to it, etc, it will turn gray eventually again. I worked in the tile industry for years and I would always suggest gray or dark beige grout for that reason.

Re: ? re: cleaning kitchen tile & grout
The wife hated our bathroom floor so she scraped out the grout and I regrouted.
The bathroom is a crazy mosaic tile so she busted her a**.
