Re-doing Driveway and Walkway

We bought our house 3 years ago and it looks like the driveway/walkway was never ever taken care of. After this year's snow, all the shoveling really took a toll. I actually found pieces of blacktop on our lawn LOL.

It is currently blacktop but very uneven and just gross. How much would it cost to get this redone? I was thinking of doing a blacktop driveway (1 car width) with a border of pavers that will continue on to our walkway to tie the two together.

Can you please post who you used and what you paid? If you aren't comfy posting price, please FM me. It doesn't matter if you had a different design. I just want to get some ideas. We are getting a nice tax return this year and we're seriously thinking of doing this.

One more question... did you need to get a permit from the town/village to have this done?

TIA! Chat Icon

We used Fasco. They did an amazing job. We enlarged our driveway, did the asphalt and had them do pavers up the side and the apron with a design in the apron. They also did a beautiful walkway. I can't remember the exact cost but it was less than $7000.

Recently, a man knocked on our door - he was with a crew down the next block - doing some sort of road work.

They were offering all neighbors a discount to pave their driveways. We have a 2-car driveway with the pavers bordering it, and I believe he said that they would typically charge us $3,500, but would give us a discount of $2,800 (if I recall correctly). I assume it was just for the blacktop.

Re: Re-doing Driveway and Walkway

My mother works for an attorney and Fasco recently filed for bankruptcy protection so DON"T use them!

We used Specht-acular Pools (They are a LIF vendor) and they have just a masonary dept... We got the front stoop, walkway, stairs down to the driveway, widened the driveway to fit 4 cars instead of 2, side walkway and a HUGE patio and retaining wall done last year. Most places, including Gappsi quoted us at $25k (it was a HUGE job). We paid $18 with Specht-acular Pools because they were willing to negotiate and work with us. We LOVE the work they did!!!!!
