I have seen a lot posted recently asking what people are doing for the grandmas, aunts, godmothers, caregivers, etc... for Mothers Day.
I am perplexed. Mothers Day is for celebrating your mother. My children give ME gifts or cards, and I give MY mother a card.... but I have never thought that my kids should give my mom something for mothers day as she is not their mother. When we were kids, we gave to our mother, but never to grandmothers or aunts.
I am not trying to stir up trouble, its just that I have never heard of this before LIF.

We do just mothers. I give cards to my sisters, just because I love them and think they are awesome Moms - but it is from me, not DS.

I always did something for my mother and grandmother and that's what my kids will do. Oh, and God Mother.

I do the Grandmas and my sister b/c she's the Godmother.
I always did for my Grandma and my Godmother in addition to my Mom

I always did something for my Mom, my grandparents as will DS.
I get my sister a card/gift b/c she rocks.
I also get cards from my nephew for being his godmother
As far as caregiver, I just thought it was a nice gesture.

I just called my mom and said to her "I am sorry... my kids have never given you a Mothers Day card!" and she said "Why would they? I am not their mother.... YOU have to send me a card though... and don't forget!" 
I guess this is another one of those "every family does things differently" things.

we do mothers, grandmothers, godmothers. And this year, I'll do sitter. She's DS's adopted grandma.

Even before kids I did gifts to my grandma and aunts
Now I do my mother, MIL, aunts, godmothers etc...........its insane

I send something from DS to his grandmothers.
I received Mother's Days cards from DH's sisters last year and I was but I thought it was a very sweet gesture. Just not a tradition in my family.

In my family we do mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers. My DH's family is so small but they always get my DH something for fathers day and I thought that was strange since he is their son/brother/nephew. But every family has their own traditions.

I dont have kids yet but give small gifts to my mom, godmothers, grandmothers, aunts. . .
i even give to my cousins and aunts who are moms! just a single flower or a scratch off - nothing crazy
I always get gifts from my nieces and nephews and godchildren

In my family everyone gets gifts for every occassion. So, for Mother's Day I will buy something big for my mom (It will be from me, DH, and the kids) then I will buy something for all of my aunts, and my grandmother.
On Dh's side we will buy his mother something (usually just a bunch of lotto tix)

we always gave something to my mother and grandmother.
I always get a card for DD to give to my sister because she is her God Mother. just a card though, no gift.
