Just curious if anyone had this at all from pregnancy or anything else, too...?

I had varicose veins, at age 15, had operations twice before this....I waitressed at 14, and was a basketball player, that along with it being hereditary caused it. Then I had DS, and was in hospital when he was 4 days old and already at home, during blizzard, with a blood clot that formed from the pushing, whch was phlebitis...which is very bad...luckily, it was not deep vein, and I was only there for a day.

Now..I have emergency laser ablation and phelbectomy scheduled for Friday, and I just found out, there is no anesthesia, and I will be awake for the entire removal of the affected vein..yes, i will see my vein being pulled from my leg in front of my face....

How the heck will I get through this? I seriously may passout...the nurse just told me on the phone, they recommend a tranquilizer and will call it in for me? Anyone know anyone who has lived through this..lol????

you'll have a local anesthetic though, right?

Oh, yes...a little shot to numb the area....like novacaine but I am still to have to see it...blindfold, I guess?

def bring a mask or something!!! I have awful veins that are painful and have gotten worse since having DD..I was hoping to get surgery on them when I was done having kids! Good luck!!!

I don't even care how it looks, its not even that bad...it just KILLS and so itchy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly I would rather re-deliver DS on Friday than go through this!
