Re: Post Office Boxes

What is the advantage of having a Post Office box? I am curious to why people opt for this over having mail delivered to their own house...

pardon my lack of knowledge - I am just curious Chat Icon Chat Icon

It can be a constant address if you move frequently.

They can accept USPS packages if you don't have anyone to accept them during the day.

Some people may want privacy from their landlords or neighbors.

Exactly.

I got one last year b/c my mailman is very sloppy with mail. I had repeatedly spoken to him but he still makes too many mistakes for me.

i work for social security and i know that people often get PO Boxes if they get checks in the mail and have problems with their neighbors stealing them

Problem is, I have a neighbor I suspect got my mail and never got it to me b/c he's a bitter man who we had a small disagreement with. So if something important is coming, I use the PO Box for peice of mind. I also like using it when I must give out an address and don't want to start getting mailings to my home.

But they are costly - is it worth the $$?

They are not costly IMO. I think mine was about $100 or so for a year (medium size) but they have small, large, xlarge, etc.
