Reading Level Question
Does anyone know if there is a way to compare the Scholastic book level to the Fountas & Pinnell level?
For example - if Scholastic says a book is "G", what would the corresponding F&P level be?

No way, really?!?!?
It wasn't a complex book at all and DD who is in kindergarten was able to read it cover to cover. That seems way too high of a level for a K-student?

ETA: Scholastic website says Guiding Reading level is a G. Is that the same thing?

Yes 
Dra levels are numbers(2 digit), lexile are numbers (3-4 digit), and f&p is alphabet. You can convert from one to the other if you google the conversion chart.
Not sure who assigns the levels tho, because some r books I've read we're harder than the levels xs. The levels aren't always consistent IMHO.
Alo, if the child has schema on a particular topic, it will be an easier read. And typically, fiction is harder than nonfiction at the same level.

Yes i go with what level scholastic says. I use their boom wizard to level my books that are not leveled

I have found Guided Reading to be off occasionally, but not by much. i think usually b/c F&P adds levels when subject matter deems it.
