ready to cry

Please help!

I need a place to have a first birthday for my daughter in December.

We live on the south shore- east islip area.

I don't want to pay over $23 a head.

We are looking at 80 people.

I've looked at so many places so far and everything is sooo expensive.

Please make suggestions!!!

TIA!

Re: ready to cry

If you are willing to go to Patchogue, try the Brickhouse Brewery. They have a really nice room upstairs that would be large enough. Not very expensive and a great place.

Here's the difficulty - from an event director standpoint.

December is the time for corporate holiday parties - many of which are booked early on. Also because it's corporate fuctions, many places charge more.

Not sure when exactly you're looking but the 1st or last weekend look like you're best bet otherwise Sunday nights/afternoon may be better.

If you go to a place that is more kid-oriented (not sure of the demographics), you'll find something reasonable.

Re: ready to cry

Knights of Columbus, Masons, etc. have halls for rent. You can get the food catered in, or order food from a deli or pizza. That's what we always do, and quite a few other people do too. It's cheaper, pretty easy, and for a 1 year b-day, they won't care what building it's in.

Re: ready to cry

Did you try the Beachtree Cafe?
I know their prices 'used' to be around that price.

Also - the Irish Coffee Pub

Sea Levels in Brightwaters is $25 a head, but well worth it.
Gino's on Main Street is $22.00
You could try Coopersmiths, I'm not really sure how much they are.
Irish coffee pub is over $30.
Cool Waters Grill in Bay Shore is pretty nice.
Captain Bills
Shandon's Court

I wanted the Beachtree because we are right down the block and the food is soooo good, but their roo only holds 55.

Shandon court was pricey.

I've never heard of cool waters or sea levels but I'll check them out.

I've only lived in the area for a few years so I don't really know of all the restaurants. My husband grew up here but he's of no help! MEN--UGH!

As far as VFW and the like, the hall rental plus catering would be fairly close to the price of what I'm looking for, especially since I don't want to serve the food myself or set up.

Thanks girls.....I'll keep looking.

Re: ready to cry

I am using the VFW hall in Sayville on Lakeland Ave. I had my high school graduation party there as well. It's really nice and clean. They have different liquor packages, but the hall rental is included in those prices. It is $14/adult, $5 per child. I am using Shandon Court to cater (I had my shower there, the food is great and they are much less expensive than anyone else I have ever used for outside catering). I am having about 80 people and it is $1,000 less this way than if I had it out at a restaurant.

Re: ready to cry

Not sure how casual you are looking to go, but I had my day-after-wedding lunch at Tennessee Jack's BBQ in EAst Islip. They gave us the whole place and had an awesome buffet set up.
