So....does anyone know how hard it is to transfer a title/deed of a house to someone in NY? Is it just a matter of doing the transfer and paying a real estate tax?

My mom just found out that the first house my parents bought was in my father's name and my grandmother's name only. My grandmother gave them the down payment as a wedding gift. They never changed it - so technically the house is now my Grandmother's since my father passed away. My mother is very upset. Not so much for money reasons, I think just bc it's not "hers." If we left it as is, the house would eventually become mine when my grandmother passes away but if I can get it back to my mom, I am sure it would make her happy.

I don't think my grandma will hassle her at all about it but I was wondering if anyone knew how easy/hard it is to transfer property.
