Real Estate Commission Rates
For those who have used a real estate agent lately, what was the going rate for commission and what "company" did you use?

i think it's about 3% (but that's what i've read, i've never used a REA to sell.)

We are paying 5%. You can go with a Foxtons but that might not give you the most exposure. I would say that they are anywhere bewteen 3-5%.

Ours is 5%. Yes, I've heard between 3-5% also. One realtor we met with was asking 6%, but we may have been able to negotiate down.

I've seen between 3% - 7% but I have personally never charged 7%.

FYI - they arent 3% anymore they're 4% now.
the average is 4%-6%. 5% seems the standard on long island, but if you are a good negotiator i'm sure you could list for 4%. FM me if you have any other questions.

I am paying 5% now and the last rea was 4% and their is a big difference in service for that 1%. I thought I was saving money but I was just hurting myself. But at the same time my broker now is 100 times better than our old one.
ETA: Another thing to consider about the commission is that the more diserable it is to an agent the more your house will show.
